#7 Cross-Promoting

What's the point of all of this?! What is 'Cross-promoting' or 'Cross-posting'?

Content creation is a lot of work, and it's not your job to entertain the masses for free. You are a hard-working and highly valid individual, and don't let these social media platforms pressure you in to open-sourcing all your content for free for views and 'exposure'. You can be smart here, and find your sweet-spot for spending enough time to make good content and get yourself seen, and still focus on your ART. Remember, you ARE the content, so BE the content. The minute you find yourself feeling like you're spending too much time creating content for social media, step back and appreciate yourself, you are doing great! There is always going to be another creator who makes better, shinier content, so you have to know when to tune out and protect your mental health, and your creativity, because it's not an endless tap, and you need to be able to sustain yourself in the long term. You got this!

So why bother doing all of this?

Because it leads to opportunities and opens doors. Which door? You won't know until you try it. That art gallery you've been eyeing might see your Reel and reach out to start a conversation about representing you. You just never know!

Cross-promoting or cross-posting is simply the art of deploying your content across mulitple platforms to expand your reach.

That's why you saved your draft Reel before you posted it. You take that video, and now you post it on other platforms. Too many people seeing your same content? Doesn't matter, not everyone is on every platform.

Here are some ideas on where you can post your Reel:

Instagram Stories

Facebook Stories/Post/Reel

Facebook Business Page Stories/Post/Reel

Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, Linkedin, TikTok Post/Story, Youtube Post/Shorts

You don't need to do all of these of course! Pick and choose what you have time for, and what plaatforms you like, then post accordingly. Just remember, BE the content and you'll be just fine.
